Early Life and Gyllene Tider

Born in Halmstad, Sweden, on January 12, 1959, Per Gessle developed a passion for music at a young age, influenced by The Beatles and other rock and pop bands. In 1976, he co-founded Gyllene Tider with four friends. The band released their debut album in 1980 and quickly gained popularity in Sweden with hits like "Flickan i en Cole Porter-sång" ("The Girl in a Cole Porter Song") and "Sommartider" ("Summer Times").

Rocking the World with Roxette

In 1986, Per Gessle teamed up with Marie Fredriksson to form Roxette. Their international breakthrough came with the release of their 1989 album "Look Sharp!" and its lead single, "The Look." The album sold over 10 million copies worldwide, establishing Roxette as one of the most successful pop duos of the 1990s. Their subsequent albums, "Joyride" and "Tourism," continued their global success with hits like "Joyride" and "It Must Have Been Love."
