President-elect Joe Biden has nominated Merrick Garland to be the next Attorney General of the United States. Garland is currently the Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. He was nominated to the Supreme Court by President Obama in 2016, but his nomination was blocked by the Republican-controlled Senate. Garland has a long and distinguished career in law. He graduated from Harvard Law School and worked as a prosecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice.
